Dr. Laura Fredes founded MindMED in 2024 to provide warm psychiatric care that treats the whole person. As a solo practice, Dr. Fredes sees every patient herself, so you have continuity of care from the first visit on.
Whether you're a lifelong Southlake resident or new to the area, MindMED provides psychiatric evaluation and medication management for patients ages 16 to 65 with anxiety, depression, mood disorders, trauma, and life transitions. Dr. Fredes is a board-certified psychiatrist trained in adult psychiatry. She treats a range of conditions in adults ages 16 to 65, and her clinical interests include women's mental health, mood changes during pregnancy and after birth, and integrative psychiatric care. She earned her medical degree at Universidad Ricardo Palma in Lima, Peru, and completed her psychiatry residency at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Elmhurst Hospital in New York. Her approach is thoughtful, evidence-based, and focused on understanding each patient as a whole person. Dr. Fredes is fluent in English and Spanish, allowing her to serve a diverse Southlake-area population. She is licensed to practice in Texas, New York, and Virginia, enabling telehealth care across multiple states.
When you schedule an initial appointment at MindMED, you'll have plenty of time to tell your story and be heard. Initial evaluations typically last 60 minutes. This gives Dr. Fredes the opportunity to thoroughly understand your psychiatric history, current symptoms, medical history, medications, and life context. We take a warm, non-judgmental approach, recognizing that seeking psychiatric care is an important step toward wellness.
